Deepdale Progress Feb 2008

I didn't realise the new stand was going to be quite so different to the other three sides. Although it has the same height main truss (the cross bar bit of the goal post roof construction), the roof falls away at a far steeper angle than the other three sides.
This may be so the rear of the stand is lower due to the housing opposite, or it may be as the rear of the stand is for another use (PCT I believe) and so as the stand is less deep it doesn't need to be as high.
The stand will be under half the capacity of the stand opposite with a lower tier of around 25 rows, and a small balcony of around three rows above, which will form executive box seats. So just like the old Deepdale the 'main' stand will once again be the smallest structure at the ground.
Has to be said though, it's a great little ground, and is so unique to this country - and the fact it's been put on the existing site and developed as and when funds were available is a credit to the club.
Those floodlight towers and roof supports really are a great landmark (clearly seen from the M6) and give the ground a great branding.

We could only build the stand at that height because of light issues with the houses behind. A second tier can be added if we ever reach the Premiership (yeah right
Briggsy - I disagree with it looking unbalanced just because the stand is smaller and the roof slopes down steeper.
A bit of extra info:
When working out the potential income from the stand (apart form the lease money from the PCT) they haven't included season ticket sales or matchday sales - so these would be a bonus.
There will be 22 executive boxes (a mixture of 10/12 seaters) with 7 already sold (prices between £16 - 21.6k) but one has sold for £40k.
The lower level will be the 300-seater Invincibles Carvery suite a season ticket for this area will cost £995.

They wont be able to fill in the corners with the design they have gone for. More likely add an extra tier to a stand or 2 if ever needed.
The new design of Deepdale is a long term plan and was actually inspired by the Stadio Luigi Ferraris (home of U.C. Sampdoria and Genoa C.F.C.)

Cant beat real floodlight pylons. I came out of uni about 7.30 a few weeks ago when they were playing West Brom at home, and you could see the floodlights from miles away. Awesome.
Next Defeat: Everton vs Chelsea (Goodison Park)

I dislike most of the bowl stadiums and prefer a stadium with a different look and a bit of character.
Your new stand is very similar to the new (Capital One) stand at Bramall Lane (Sheff Utd).
We also have TWO floors at the back of the stand.
The lower level has a glass window running the length of the stand, inside is the executive club including several bars etc.
The upper floor has several individual executive boxes, each one has their own outside balcony.
Our stand looks like it has more seats and the roof is square.
Click the link below to see the similarity.

Unlikely. There's been nothing said about any seat design. My preference would be to just have it as blue seats. Think having 3 players faces in the other stands is enough.

No sh*t!
Colchester are going down along with one from Scunthorpe then the ex giants - Sheff Wed, Leicester, Preston, Coventry and Sheff Utd.
I think Preston will avoid the drop, Sheff Utd just, Leicester to scrape a win on the last day. Leaves us, Scunny and Coventry. Were headed for League One

Why are Colchester going down but Scunthorpe in a worse position and without the recent form of Colchester aren't necessarily.
I think it is Preston + Scunny plu 1 of the next 4 or 5.

Took a trip down with my camera before after my job interview. Its coming along nicely - just a shame the webcam is pointing away from the main bit they're working on at the moment!

You missed out scumpton FFS. They have the lowest points return in the last 6 games with 1 win in 12 - they also loaned out one of their better players in the TW as they are skint.
It's a cup final at Scunthorpe tomorrow...
Oh it's just SOOOOOO funny!!

Unfortunately its the same for most Lancashire clubs. In Preston in particular, most seem to "support" Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd & Liverpool (the last two in particular). If I had my way the pr*cks would be publicly flogged in front of the Harris Museum.

It is but you can see they have used all their space up to the road opposite the houses behind. It looks as if they have designed it so they could extend the stand later by buying the houses behind. Much of the steelwork could be used again. Anyhow Shabba will be pleased and at the risk of irking him can I say ''that stand is good enough for Jehovvah'

I really like it like that, it's not identikit on all sides but the roof is still a uniform height. Good stuff.
Don't think they'll have room to make a face in the seats, mind.

Could be even better if we finished it off with some shrubbery and a few juniper bushes
Originally I wasn't too keen on the 'smallish' nature of the stand, but I think the small 'executive tier' solves that.
I've also been inside the actual stand itself and is going to look pretty impressive. Unfortunately I can't upload the pics I took.
The executive boxes will all be named after former players by the way. Doubt there'll be a face in the seats, but to be honest it would be better if there wasn't as I think 3 is enough.

Are Preston unique in having faces in seats do you or anyone know. ?
