Solihull Moors - Conference North

Solihull Moors were formed in 2007 by the merger of Solihull Borough and Moor Green. Until 1989 Borough played at Widney Lane but were forced to sell the ground following financial problems. After many years groundsharing (for the most part with Moor Green!) the club moved into the converted golf driving range of Damson Park in 2000.

The ground is located half a mile south of Birmingham Airport Cargo entrance next to the Land Rover car factory and holds 3,050 including 280 seats, although this would need to increase to 500 seats if the club were ever to compete in the Conference North playoffs. Bus 966 passes the ground en route between Solihull Station and Birmingham International Station (bus stop locations).

The main ‘stand’ is actually an area of seating that has been constructed in front of the clubhouse / function suite (a building that used to be a nightclub before the club moved in) with a roof structure above it. This means the pitch can also be seen from the bar area inside the building. Built onto the roof is a viewing gantry (for club officials?) giving the stand a double-decker look. To the right, the Damson Parkway End is actually the old golf driving range cover now extended in length and incorporating a few steps of terracing under its angled roof. Opposite and to the left consists of pitchside standing.

Moor Green’s former home was the Moorlands in the Hall Green area of south-east Birmingham. Following fire damage to the ground in 2005 the club groundshared with Solihull Borough. The prohibitive cost of rebuilding the ground resulted in the decision to merge with Borough.

The Moors are now in talks with Birmingham & Solihull (Pertemps) Bees RFC about groundsharing and jointly improving the facilities at Damson Park.

Went there with Harrogate last season and made the mistake of going to Solihull station and walking (on the way back from somewhere).

Damson Parkway is about bloody 4 miles long and Damson Park is at the other end of it!!!!

It is nearer to National Exhibition Centre than Solihul or Moor Green. If you can call being next to the airport and the Land Rover Factory in the middle of nowhere then most definately it is.

I looks like it's in the middle of nowhere but it's not really. Went a couple of years ago to watch Birmingham vs Wolves reserves! Spent the entire game enjoying a bit of friendly banter with the locals - who said rival fans cant get on?

I agree that rivals can get along! At a game between City and Yeovil in April, both sets of fans were enjoying a drink and playing friendly games of football in the park! All good friends!

Grounds such as this have always had an effect on me! I've started an idea of mine to cycle to more small grounds throughout the country (Mostly near Oxford) I think I might go to Didcot soon!
